2370 B.C. The Flood

After the birth of Noah in 2970 B.C., six centuries passed about which the Bible does not give us much information. The living conditions for the people on earth became more and more unbearable. Things like godlessness and violence took on ever worsening proportions. This was partly the result of the behavior of children born from the marriages mentioned earlier between earthly women and demons. It was not for nothing that these children were called the Nephilim, which means killers.

In the six centuries mentioned, there were at least two persons who remained loyal to JHWH: Noah and his wife. When Noah was about 500 years old, about 2470 B.C., they got three sons: Japheth, Shem, and Ham.

God concluded that the life that people led on His earth had become something horrible both for those people themselves and for Him as their creator. In this case, He saw no other solution but to destroy all people on earth with the exception of the eight people who had remained loyal to Him: Noah, his sons, and their wives.

About 2490 B.C., He told Noah that He intended to destroy all humans by means of a flood. The rain would continue for months and that would inundate the whole world. He advised Noah to build an ark, a big boat, in which he and his family could survive the flood. He also ordered Noah to use the ark to give accommodation to a male and a female of every animal species so that after the flood, the earth would get back its original animal life.

The ark was finished in the year 2370. Noah was 600 years old then. He and his family entered the ark and collected the males and females of every species of animals inside their boat.

God opened the floodgates of the thick layer of water that He had built along the entire vault of heaven that surrounds our planet. It rained continuously for forty days until the whole layer of water had come down and there was no piece of dry land on our planet to be found anywhere. In this way, all the people died except for the eight people in the ark. All the animals that had not found a place in the ark also lost their lives. The demons which had made male bodies for them to be able to marry human women disposed of their bodies and returned to heaven as evil spirits. In their new lives, they would make their influence felt on earth as fallen angels or devils.

After a stay of over a year in the ark, Noah and his family could leave their boat in 2369 B.C. and continue the history of mankind.

It is extremely remarkable that the first thousands of years of the history of mankind took place in an area that everybody knows nowadays and in the neighborhood of towns and rivers of which everybody knows the location now. We are talking about the country that is now called Iraq and the rivers Euphrates and Tigris. The ark of Noah eventually found a resting place in the large plains between the Euphrates and the Tigris, the land that was called Babylonia later on and is now called Iraq.

From this territory between the Euphrates and the Tigris, the whole earth got populated in the course of time. In this piece of land lies the starting point of the spread of the human race across our entire planet. From here, various human races and thousands of human languages developed and spread.

(It is very worthwhile to read the story of the Flood in the year 2370 B.C. in the Bible itself. It is to be found in Genesis 6 - 8.)
