Evil. The relationship between evil and sin

The Bible places the origin of evil with an angel who rebelled against God and thus interrupted the peace and the harmony of the world of those days. This angel is called Satan in the Bible.The Bible says that this fallen angel, Satan, allowed wrong desires to develop in his mind. Desires which conflicted with God's thoughts, God's will and God's position as the absolute sovereign of the universe.

The origin of evil lies with Satan, his demons, Adam and Eve
Instead of crushing the wrong desires which had developed in his mind, Satan must have permitted them to occupy a lasting position in his mind and to let their influence on his thinking and feeling get stronger. In the end Satan turned his evil thoughts and desires into actions

In Western culture the notion that a human being consists of a body and a soul, which are separated at death, comes from pagan religions and particularly from Greek philosophy, In the Bible the word soul means life itself, living as such, and when a person dies the soul dies together with the body.

The relationship between evil and sin
The Bible teaches that evil, suffering and death have entered the universe as a result of sin. Therefore it is very important that people are well aware of what sin is and what Satan, Adam and Eve have actually done to make evil, suffering and death essential parts of our present life.

Humans and angels must not only appreciate highly the perfection with which God has created everything: they must also appreciate highly the perfection with which God governs and rules His creation. For people who cannot bring themselves to appreciate God in this sensible and loving way, there will be no place in the Kingdom that God is going to establish.
